Willemstad – Tierra del Mar, one of the newest projects by Mambo Developers, is home to the remarkable Palu di Brasil, a tree deeply intertwined with the history and culture of Curaçao. Known locally as the Brazil tree (Haematoxylon brasiletto), it is easily recognized by its twisted shape and grooved trunk, standing as a living symbol of the island’s heritage.

Historically, the Palu di Brasil was highly valued for the red dye extracted from its wood, which played a central role in the early textile industry of the Antilles. Its contribution to local history and commerce makes the tree an important cultural landmark on Curaçao.

Today, the Palu di Brasil is cherished not only for its historical significance but also for its aesthetic and cultural value. Local artists, including Gino Martina, incorporate the wood into their artwork, allowing the tree to continue inspiring modern creations while keeping its legacy alive.

Within Tierra del Mar, great care is taken to preserve and protect the Palu di Brasil, ensuring that this remarkable symbol of Curaçao’s history and culture endures for future generations to admire and celebrate.
